Accessibility in ScriptShelf
We want ScriptShelf to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who use VoiceOver, Voice Control, larger text or other assistive technology. This report says what we have actually tested, what we have not, and where ScriptShelf still falls short. Read it alongside our accessibility commitment.
Last tested 6 November 2026, app version 1.1
Overview
Every feature has one status, and the status is the whole claim. These are the recorded statuses for ScriptShelf. They are not a score, and none of them is a guarantee that the app works for everyone.
2 known limitations are documented in this report. Read them.

Accessibility features
Each feature is described, given its recorded status, and followed by the evidence and observations behind that status. Nothing is rated higher than the checking behind it.
Tested We have tested this on a real device and it works.
-
VoiceOver
Every control has a clear label, state and action, read in a logical order.
Medication cards, the Today bar, history rows, pack rows, Reminders rows and the Safety Net bar read as single items with a label and value; the daily tick says "Taken today" with Yes or No and announces the change; urgency is spoken as On track, Due soon or Overdue. Decorative icons are hidden. Tested with VoiceOver on an iPhone 17 running iOS 27.1.
Tested on iPhone 17, iOS 27.1, app version 1.1, 6 November 2026.
-
Larger Text
Text scales to the largest accessibility sizes without being cut off or overlapping.
Text uses Dynamic Type styles. Cards and wordmark scale, script fields wrap to one column, the form picker adapts its columns, and Settings values wrap instead of clipping (SuiteKit). Apple's automated audit at the largest accessibility size finds no clipping or truncation. Tested at larger text sizes on an iPhone 17 running iOS 27.1.
Tested on iPhone 17, iOS 27.1, app version 1.1, 6 November 2026.
-
Reduce Motion
Non-essential animation is removed when Reduce Motion is on.
The only app animations (pack row changes, the Add medication details toggle and onboarding page changes) are switched off when Reduce Motion is on. Nothing else in the app animates apart from standard system sheets. Tested with Reduce Motion on, on an iPhone 17 running iOS 27.1.
Tested on iPhone 17, iOS 27.1, app version 1.1, 6 November 2026.
-
Touch targets
Controls are large enough and spaced well enough to tap reliably.
Buttons, the stepper, Skip, Back, Cancel, Mark all taken and Undo have a hit area of at least 44 by 44 points, set inside the button label so the whole area responds. Tested on an iPhone 17 running iOS 27.1.
Tested on iPhone 17, iOS 27.1, app version 1.1, 6 November 2026.
Built in and checked Built into the app and covered by our automated tests and Apple accessibility checks. Not yet confirmed by hand on a real device, so we do not call it tested.
-
Contrast
Text and controls are readable, including with Increase Contrast switched on.
Body, secondary and tertiary text and the green, amber and red text colours are set to at least 4.5:1 on the paper, white and tinted backgrounds, and a unit test enforces this. Apple's audit still flags some items as low contrast; measuring the rendered pixels of the items we checked showed most at 6:1 or better, but thin small labels could not be confirmed. Not yet checked on a device.
-
Differentiate Without Colour
Nothing depends on colour alone to carry meaning.
Urgency has an icon and a spoken tier name as well as colour. Selected form, filter chip, paywall plan and active profile show a checkmark as well as colour (added in 1.1, build 69). Repeats are shown as filled or outlined shapes plus a text caption.
-
Subscription and purchase screens
Everything needed to choose, buy and restore is accessible.
Plan cards are buttons that read as selected and show a checkmark; the Back button has a label and a 44 point hit area; price errors are shown as text, not colour alone. Prices come from the store as localised text. Not yet tried with VoiceOver on a device.
-
First-run setup
Onboarding can be completed with assistive technology.
The page dots are one control that reads Page N of 5 and can be adjusted by swiping up or down; Next and Skip are labelled with 44 point hit areas; decorative illustrations are hidden; page changes respect Reduce Motion. Not yet tried on a device.
Known limitation We know this does not work well yet. See the limitations below.
-
Dark Mode
The app is comfortable to read in both light and dark appearance.
The app is always shown in its light appearance, even when the phone is set to Dark Mode.
-
Errors and alerts
Problems are announced clearly, not just shown.
Save failures use a standard alert, which VoiceOver announces. Inline entry errors, such as an invalid price, appear as text but are not announced when they appear.
Not yet assessed We have not looked at this yet.
-
Voice Control
Every control can be operated by saying its name.
No evidence has been recorded for this feature.
-
Switch Control and keyboard
The app can be operated with Switch Control or a keyboard.
No evidence has been recorded for this feature.
Does not apply This feature is not relevant to this app.
-
Charts and graphs
Every chart has a text summary that carries the same information.
ScriptShelf has no charts or graphs. Its one graphic, the PBS Safety Net progress bar, is read as a labelled item with a percentage value.

Every status in this report comes from checking the app, not from assuming the platform handles it. Tested means we tried it by hand on a real device. Built in and checked means it is in the app and covered by our automated tests and Apple's accessibility checks, but we have not yet confirmed it by hand.

Known limitations
-
Known limitation
Always light appearance
ScriptShelf does not follow Dark Mode. The app always shows its light appearance.
Workaround: None needed for readability, as the light palette meets the contrast targets, but people who need a dark screen cannot get one.
-
Known limitation
Inline entry errors are not announced
On Log fill and New script, a message such as "Enter the price as a number" appears under the field without VoiceOver announcing it.
Workaround: Swipe on from the field to hear the message. A save that fails is announced by an alert.
